History of the Swiss Music Newspaper

In 1998, six association bodies merged to form the Swiss Music Newspaper

Music journals have existed in Switzerland since the 19th century; they were directly associated with choral singing well into the 20th century. After a period of fragmentation, the merger of six association organs in 1998 gave rise to the Swiss Music Newspaper.

In 2008, the Schweizer Musikzeitung celebrated its 10th anniversary. This was the occasion to take a look at its long history. See article From the Sängerblatt to the SMZ in: SMZ 1/2008, p. 5 ff.

On November 28, 2014, the extraordinary meeting of delegates of the Schweizer Musikzeitung association decided to appoint NZZ Fachmedien AG as publisher and editor of the Schweizer Musikzeitung from January 1, 2015. Swiss Music Newspaper and to liquidate the Schweizer Musikzeitung association. See message.

Following the establishment of the joint venture CH Media in 2018 by NZZ and AZ Medien, NZZ Fachmedien AG and thus also the Swiss Music Newspaper taken over by CH Regionalmedien AG.

Since October 1, 2020, the Swiss Music Newspaper to Galledia Fachmedien AG. See CH Media communication.
