Active support for gifted children
Around 90 young, talented musicians will benefit from the experience of internationally renowned instructors during 10 days of solo lessons, chamber music lessons and workshops on the music island of Rheinau. Concerts during the Academy and a final concert on July 24, 2018 in Zurich are special highlights.
The Youth Classics Swiss International Music Academy (SIMA) is a private initiative to promote young string instrument talents. It offers talented musicians who aspire to study music in the near or distant future an intensive, high-quality musical education during the summer vacation period. From July 15 to 25, 2018, around 90 musicians aged between 10 and 25 from Switzerland and abroad will be taking part in the 9th edition of SIMA at Musikinsel Rheinau.
Lessons with top-class professional musicians
Selected lecturers from renowned music academies in Switzerland and abroad, most of whom are also active as soloists or orchestral musicians, work with the participants during the Academy as part of the solo lessons. In the lessons, the young musicians are taught technical basics, works are interpreted and the participants are prepared for competitions, examinations and auditions. In addition to individual lessons, there are also rehearsals with accompaniment for strings, chamber music lessons and chamber orchestra rehearsals as well as various group workshops such as improvisation and flow skills.
Place of encounters
Participants and lecturers live in the same place during the Academy on the Rheinau Music Island. This also encourages encounters with important music teachers and exchanges with like-minded people.
Group experience as part of joint concerts
Special highlights are the concerts by the participants, which will take place during the Academy on July 20 and 21, 2018 in Schaffhausen. Musicians will also be selected from the field of participants to perform at the final concert on July 24, 2018 in the large concert hall of the Zurich University of the Arts in Zurich.
