Ringing trees

The music book for the tree songs by Roland Zoss allows you to create your own arrangements. You can simply listen with the two CDs "Trees of the North" and "Trees of the South".

The Swiss singer-songwriter Roland Zoss has set out to set trees to music. He has written a total of 28 tree songs, each in search of the climatic, mythological and morphological characteristics of a tree - and its significance for us humans. First comes the sequoia, because it is the oldest of all. It is 3000 years old and up to 120 meters high. It is often struck by lightning, but still survives the resulting forest fires. It is considered sacred by the Native Americans.

Anyone who now suspects a wooden sound with so many trees is wrong. The music is rocking, groovy and invites you to sing along or create your own. Thanks to the music book or the lyrics book and the two CDs Trees of the north and Trees of the south this is also possible. Zoss has called on 27 musicians and singers, including big names such as Corin Curschellas and Markus Flückiger. Depending on the instrumental composition, the songs sound in different colors. The melancholy duduk plays around the olive tree (which can be traced back 10,000 years) and the trümpi introduces the song to the karube tree. The karube is the carob tree from Egypt, and yes, the name goes back to John the Baptist. The tree provided the measure for weighing gold: 24 carube seeds weigh 24 carats of gold. Today, carube flour is found as E 410 in baby food and tablets. You learn a lot about the trees in these songs.

Zoss is a tree specialist. He hugs them, listens to them and knows their story. "You fight for nature, and when your courage fails you, go and get your strength - from the Karubeboum!" - this refrain is typical of the tree songs. The tree songbook is not just an ode to the trees, but a source of strength for our fight for nature.

Meaningful texts, beautiful melodies, colorful accompaniment: successful CDs! And a music book (as an e-book) that goes far beyond the reproduction of the melodies. The only thing left to be desired is a playback version for singing along.
