Opera Europa with a new president
The Board of Opera Europa has elected Ignacio García-Belenguer, General Director of Teatro Real Madrid, as the association's new President. He succeeds Anna Maria Meo, General Director of the Teatro Regio di Parma.
Martin Glaser, General Director of Narodni divadlo Brno, was elected Vice President, Laura Berman, Artistic Director of Staatsoper Hannover, remains Vice President. Alexandra Stampler-Brown, Managing Director of Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf-Duisburg, remains Treasurer, and Henning Ruhe, Artistic Director of Opera and Drama at GöteborgsOperan, was re-elected Secretary.
Opera Europa is a service organization for professional opera companies and opera festivals throughout Europe. It currently has over 215 members from 43 countries. Ina Karr, the artistic director of the Lucerne Theater, is represented on the board from Switzerland.
One of Opera Europa's projects is OperaVision, a free streaming platform that currently offers up to four full-length opera performances and up to 20 bonus videos per month with digital program notes and subtitles in English, French and German. The content is curated by a project manager and three coordinators.
Members of Opera Europa from Switzerland are the Theater Basel, Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn TOBS, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Nouvel Opéra Fribourg, AGORA Lausanne and Opéra de Lausanne as well as the Luzerner Theater, the Theater St. Gallen and the Opernhaus Zürich.
