Hefti-Werk at the ISCM World Music Days 2018

The Swiss composer David Philip Hefti was chosen by the jury of the ISCM World Music Days 2018 to represent Switzerland at the festival with his work "A la recherche..." for clarinet, viola and piano.

The ISCM World Music Days is the annual festival of the International Society for Contemporary Music, founded in 1922, and will take place in Beijing from May 19 to 26 in 2018. The host is the Beijing Modern Music Festival. The works to be selected are submitted by the 65 country sections and presented to the festival jury.

The submissions of the Swiss Society for New Music SGNM/SSMC - this year works by Isabel Klaus, Beat Gysin, Daniel Zéa and David Philipp Hefti - were coordinated by its Vice President Nicolas Farine.

Hefti was born in St. Gallen in 1975 and studied composition, conducting, clarinet and chamber music in Winterthur, Zurich and Karlsruhe with Wolfgang Rihm, Wolfgang Meyer and Elmar Schmid. He also received important impulses from Cristóbal Halffter and Rudolf Kelterborn.
