Roots in Exile - Music for the Planet II - Escape to Exile IV

Words are followed by pictures: Marco Borggreve is a big name in the classical music scene as a photographer. This evening, his works will enter into an inspiring dialog with all the worlds of sound that Patricia Kopatchinskaja will explore together with the Camerata Bern for the second concert in their "Music for the Planet" series. A concert as a place for exchange and cooperation, as a sign of exchange and solidarity. "The roots of our program lie both underground and in the heavens," she explains together with cellist Thomas Kaufmann. "But most of all in our hearts. The Polish composer Andrzej Panufnik believed that trees and their roots have magical powers. He had loved trees since childhood, enjoying their various shapes and colors, their branches dancing in the wind, sobs, sighs and rustling leaves. He imagined the roots growing upwards into the cosmos and their branches into the earth. This resulted in fascinating short pieces for string orchestra, which we combine with photos by Marco Borggreve, Schnittke's Cello Sonata, Telemann's "Frog" Concerto and numerous short nature fantasies by other composers."
