SUISA

The SUISA is the cooperative of authors and publishers of music.

Over 38,000 composers, lyricists and music publishers are organized in the cooperative society, which was founded in 1923. SUISA collects copyright royalties on their behalf when their music is used publicly in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Thanks to agreements with over 100 sister societies around the world, SUISA administers the rights of a total of two million authors and publishers. SUISA employs over 200 people at its offices in Zurich, Lausanne and Lugano.

In 2017, SUISA founded the joint venture Mint Digital Services together with the US music organization SESAC. The company is responsible for the settlement and administration of the cross-border music licensing business of SESAC, its subsidiary The Harry Fox Agency and SUISA with online providers and also offers its services to publishers.

SUISA represents the so-called minor rights. These include non-theatrical musical works, concert versions of theatrical works and musical works in cinema and television films. It grants licenses to its clients such as concert promoters, record producers, radio and television stations etc. so that they can perform, broadcast, distribute and reproduce music. Major rights such as operas or musicals are represented by the Société Suisse des Auteurs SSA.
