...cultivates and promotes all endeavors that are in the interest of music research, especially Swiss music research. It serves as a forum for scientific contacts and the exchange of experiences, ideas and new research results, also for a broader public.
...issues publications in which Swiss musicology has a special voice, fosters cooperation with similar associations in Switzerland and abroad and organizes lectures, conferences and congresses.
...cultivates international relations: The Swiss office of the RISM (Répertoire International des Sources Musicales) and the national representation of the RILM (Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale) operate under its umbrella.
...enables the association of all circles interested in music - musicologists, musicians and music lovers - also on a regional level. It maintains contacts with other cultural organizations in the region, supports significant regional music projects through scientific support and provides music lovers with a deeper understanding of the fascinating world of music.
...consists of seven sections with a total of around 600 members.
