The annual meeting of the Swiss jazz scene - a network of networks

To be able to connect, you have to be sure of your own identity

Another aim of the Swiss Jazz Days is to raise the profile of Swiss jazz in society. Because: "If you can strengthen your own identity, you can then connect with others and expand the field," Simon Petermann is convinced. Above all, it is important for the Swiss jazz scene to improve its self-perception as a cultural sector. Only when the scene itself knows who or what it is and what it wants to do will it be easier to communicate about the scene.

A network of networks - and support for problem solving

According to Petermann, the Swiss Jazz Days should therefore develop into a network of networks. The aim is to create a sense of community, with participants going home with the feeling that they have met their peers, "likeminded people", as he calls it. And the more likeminded people meet, the greater the likelihood of benefiting from mutual exchange. Simon Petermann concludes: "My biggest problem has almost certainly been solved by someone in Switzerland. If I could meet this person, the solution would also be much more tangible for me. And the likelihood of meeting this person increases with an annual event like this." A great idea: an annual event that should serve as an overarching network of networks, but also as an opportunity to find individual solutions on the one hand and to strengthen the collective identity of the Swiss jazz scene on the other.
