Lilli Maijala to teach at the ZHdK from fall
Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is delighted to welcome Lilli Maijala to the viola team from the fall semester 2023.
Lilli Maijala is one of the most internationally sought-after Scandinavian violists of the present day.
Since her debut at the age of seventeen with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, she has frequently appeared as a soloist with renowned orchestras. Her concert recordings for Alba Records have been released by The Strad and BBC Music Magazine praised. As a sought-after chamber musician, she is invited to festivals all over the world.
After playing for several years in the experimental quartet-lab with Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Pekka Kuusisto and Pieter Wispelwey, Lilli Maijala is now a member of the newly founded Valo Quartet.
She has been teaching at the Sibelius Academy Helsinki since 2009 and has been a professor and head of the viola faculty since 2011.
