Tourism prize for Lucerne Symphony Orchestra
The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and its director Numa Bischof Ullmann have received the 2018 Tourism Award from the Lucerne Tourism Forum. The award was given "due to the cultural significance of the orchestra in Lucerne and its international appeal".
According to the jury, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra is an important part of Lucerne's cultural life. It enjoys great popularity among the local population and is therefore partly responsible for the high quality of life in the region.
According to the press release, the orchestra's function as an ambassador for Lucerne abroad was just as decisive in the awarding of the prize. The artistic director was praised by the jury "as a tireless innovator whose vision has made the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra a great figurehead of Lucerne's musical life".
