Ieva Saliete receives Latvian Music Prize
Ieva Saliete, harpsichordist with the Bernese early music orchestra Les Passions de l'Ame, has won the Latvian Music Prize in the Chamber Musician of the Year category, the highest award in the Baltic state.
Ieva Saliete was born in Riga. During her piano studies at the music academy in her home city, she also studied harpsichord with Aina Kalnciema, according to the Berner Orchester. This was followed by studies with Robert Hill at the Freiburg University of Music and with Jörg Andreas Bötticher at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel.
Ieva lived in Freiburg from 1996 to 2010 and performed throughout Europe as a harpsichordist with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, among others. She has also taken part in many radio and CD productions. She currently lives in Latvia. She performs in solo and chamber music concerts, teaches harpsichord to major students at the Latvian Academy of Music in Riga and is a member of the ensembles Les Passions de l'Ame Bern and KesselbergEnsemble Basel.
