"Fauvettes de L'Hérault" in Lugano
On Saturday, November 11, 2017, French pianist Roger Muraro will present the European premiere of the recently discovered and reconstructed "Fauvettes de L'Hérault" in Lugano.
According to Muraro, the 20-minute piece accompanied Messiaen for a large part of his life. The composer, who originally intended the work as a piano concerto, ultimately left behind enough material to create a work for solo piano. LuganoMusica and Radio della Svizzera Italiana (RSI) are jointly organizing the recital on Saturday, 11 November 2017 at 5 pm in the Radio Studio Lugano. The live broadcast can be heard on RSI/Rete Due and as streaming on www.rsi.ch can be followed.
Muraro premiered "Fauvettes de L'Hérault" on June 23 at the Toppan Hall in Tokyo. He will give the French premiere in February 2018 as part of Radio France's Présences festival. Messiaen originally commissioned the work to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Claude Debussy's birth in 1962.
