A Swiss participant in Singapore
The Singapore International Violin Competition, which is being held for only the second time since 2015 and whose first prize is endowed with 50,000 US dollars, also lists a Swiss violinist among the 34 invited participants for the competition in January 2018.
Sumina Studer, born in Zurich in 1997, has been invited to perform. She began her studies with Simone Zgraggen at the Zurich Conservatory and switched to Philip Draganov's class ten years later. She is currently studying at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin with Antje Weithaas. She is a three-time first prize winner at the Swiss Youth Music Competition.
The competition will take place between January 28 and February 8, 2018 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concert Hall, the Victoria Concert Hall and most recently with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at the Esplanade Concert Hall. The jury consists of Qian Zhou (Vprsitz), Mauricio Fuks, Kam Ning, Kim Nam Yun, Boris Kuschnir, Silvia Marcovici, Paul Roczek, David Takeno and Victor Tretiakov.
