Siemens Sponsorship Award for Michael Pelzel

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the Swiss composer Michael Pelzel, the Dane Simon Steen-Andersen and the Swede Lisa Streich with composition prizes of 35,000 euros each. The award also includes the production of a portrait CD.

Born in Rapperswil in 1978, Michael Pelzel studied at the music academies of Lucerne, Basel, Stuttgart, Berlin and Karlsruhe with Dieter Ammann, Detlev Müller-Siemens, Georg-Friedrich Haas, Hanspeter Kyburz and Wolfgang Rihm, among others. Michael Pelzel has received numerous awards and works as a freelance composer and organist. He also teaches music theory sporadically at music academies.

Lisa Streich is a student of Adriana Hölszky, Johannes Schöllhorn, Mauro Lanza and William Brunson. Simon Steen-Andersen teaches composition at the State Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, and has also been a visiting professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and a lecturer at the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music.
