Helene Winkelman at the ISCM World Music Days

The Swiss composer Helena Winkelman has been selected by the jury of the ISCM World Music Days 2015 in Slovenia to represent Switzerland at the festival with her work Bandes dessinées.

The ISCM World Music Days are the annual festival of the International Society for Contemporary Music, founded in 1922, and will take place in Slovenia in 2015 from September 26 to October 1. The works to be selected are submitted by the respective national sections. The submissions of the Swiss Society for Contemporary Music SGNM/SSMC were coordinated by its Vice President Nicolas Farine.

Winkelman studied composition with Roland Moser and Georg Friedrich Haas. In 2013 she was Composer in Residence at the Musikdorf Ernen in Switzerland and in 2014 at the Lockenhaus Festival in Austria. She has received commissions from the Harvard Musical Association Boston, the Basel Sinfonietta, Musikfabrik Köln and the Lucerne Festival, among others. Her works have been performed by the Ensemble Phoenix and the Arditti Quartet. Helena Winkelman lives in Basel.
