Other award winners include Chick Corea (Instrumentalist of the Year International Piano), Sebastian Studnitzky (Instrumentalist of the Year National Brass), Branford Marsalis (Instrumentalist of the Year International Saxophone), Eva Kruse (Instrumentalist of the Year National Bass), Pat Metheny (Instrumentalist of the Year International Guitar) and saxophonist Christof Lauer with the NDR Big Band (Big Band Album of the Year). Since 2010, the Echo Jazz has been awarded by the Deutsche Phono-Akademie, the "cultural institute of the German Music Industry Association", in addition to the older Echo Klassik. It is determined by a jury made up of various industry experts and decided by a simple majority.
