Death of the Gstaad artistic director Thierry Scherz
Thierry Scherz, the artistic director and co-founder of the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad festival, has died in Vienna at the age of 42, according to a statement from the event's organizers.

According to the official press release, Scherz had shaped the Gstaad festival since its inception and earned it a prominent place on the international music scene. The Sommets Musicaux team is losing "a friend, a partner, an artist". A mass in memory of Thierry Scherz will be held in Saanen church on Thursday, July 10, at 12 noon.
Ombretta Ravessoud, the director and co-founder of the festival, together with the festival team, guarantees the continuity and continuity of the festival. The 2015 edition of the festival, whose program was designed by Thierry Scherz, will take place from 30 January to 7 February 2015 in the churches of Gstaad, Saanen and Rougemont.
According to a report in the "Berner Zeitung" and obituaries in local media, Scherz passed away voluntarily in Vienna. He passed away "quite unexpectedly in a moment of depression". He is survived by his wife Martina and two twin daughters aged eight. Thierry Scherz was the brother of Palace Director Andrea Scherz and son of the Palace owner family Ernst A. Scherz.
