Sophisticated fantasies
The nine short solo pieces for horn by Theo Wegmann are intended to sound improvised despite the high technical demands.

These fantasies were originally composed for trumpet for the inauguration ceremony of a sculpture by Zurich artist Ödön Koch. Theo Wegmann, known as the organist at the Zurich-Witikon Reformed Church for many years, concert pianist and composer, calls for the following in the pieces entitled Le Silence require some technical skill from the horn player. Nevertheless, they should sound "like improvisations - direct and free, with great breath, out of the moment", as the composer writes in a footnote.
