Matinée des Jeunes Etoiles V

Isn't it wonderful to see how the new generation of musicians not only inspires the creation of new works for their instrument, but also brings long-forgotten or unjustly pushed into the shadows compositions back into the light? The Japanese pianist Tomoki Park, a student of Sir András Schiff, combines both in his program: In addition to a specially commissioned composition by his compatriot Dai Fujikura, he devotes his recital above all to one of the most impressive musical tributes to the Thomaskantor: the Variations and Fugue on a Theme of J. S. Bach op. 81 by Max Reger - a kind of Bach in "romantically heightened" form that is deeply moving and fascinating.
