Tradition and progress - Inner Emigration III
Francesco Piemontesi is one of Switzerland's best-known pianists and is celebrated on the international stage. In 2023, the former pupil of Alfred Brendel already caused a sensation with his impressive series of residencies and his finely nuanced playing. This summer, he returns - not only for a trio session on August 3 with Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Sol Gabetta, but also for a recital that demonstrates two ways in which composers were able to interpret classical forms in a completely new, individual and absolutely masterful way: Schubert, who experimented with free forms in his fantasias and impromptus, and Liszt, who pushed the rigid corset of the sonata to its extreme limits.
