Sleeping Beauty - Nostalgia II
At the beginning of his career, Daniil Trifonov was primarily celebrated for his exceptional technical brilliance, but he has since made the transition from exceptional talent to an unmistakable, versatile artist. His latest recital program is proof of this: from timeless Chopin waltzes, he leads the audience into the magical worlds of Tchaikovsky's ballets, which were arranged for the piano in an outstanding way by his compatriot Mikhail Pletnev. But above all, he opens up the almost unfathomable expanses of Alberto Ginastera's Second Sonata, which was written shortly before the end of his life (1983 in Geneva) and is filled with the "fragrant sounds" of his Argentinian homeland, which served him as a true source of inspiration ... Music full of longing: the maltreated Poland of Chopin, the lost childhood of Tchaikovsky, the sonorous memories of Latin American landscapes of Ginastera.
