Contributions from the Ausserrhoden Cultural Fund
The Government Council of Appenzell Ausserrhoden dealt with the second tranche of applications for funding from the Cultural Fund in 2014 and awarded a total of CHF 65,500 for five projects on the recommendation of the Cultural Council.
The Gais choir is planning with Piratical to stage a new musical production that far exceeds the dimensions of its previous plays. "In recognition of the choir's many years of work" and because the municipality is also providing considerable support, the canton has granted a deficit guarantee of CHF 20,000.
Another contribution will go to the Tablater Konzertchor St. Gallen, which has a large group of singers from Ausserrhoden, writes the canton. The internationally successful baritone Manuel Walser, who grew up in Teufen, will take part in the newly planned project.
Philipp Langenegger's new reading tour will also be supported, with which he - once again together with Werner Alder on the dulcimer and Maya Stieger on the violin - will go on tour in late fall. It bears the title Narregmend and is dedicated to the Appenzell singing father Alfred Tobler.
CHF 15,000 will go to the Swiss Folklore Society (SGV), which has undertaken a major project to archive, digitize and make accessible its photo collection, which spans from the beginnings of photography in the 1840s to the late 1980s. Finally, the Government Council approved the purchase of two works by Peter Stoffel.
The Department of Home Affairs and Culture supported 43 other projects with a total of CHF 92,600 between the end of January and the beginning of July 2014.
