Valais revises music school regulations
The Valais State Council has convened an extra-parliamentary commission to prepare a draft law on music schools and the principles of extracurricular music education. Its report is expected by the second semester of 2015.
The committee, which is chaired by Francesco Walter (Ernen) and vice-chaired by Philipp Matthias Bregy (Naters) and Fabien Girard (Monthey), is expected to present its proposals in the second half of 2015.
In preparation for the reform of the support framework for music schools, the three music schools currently recognized by the canton of Valais (Conservatoire cantonal de musique, Ecole de jazz et de musique actuelle (EJMA) and Allgemeine Musikschule Oberwallis (amo)) have carried out significant joint work with the development of the Harmonized Framework Curriculum (HRL), writes the canton of Valais.
The framework curriculum defines the general framework, the course of training and, for each instrument family, the objectives and content of the training at artistic, technical and theoretical level. The HRL, which has been welcomed by the Swiss Association of Music Schools, will be made available from the beginning of 2014 and will be tested for two years.
