City of Lucerne stands by Konzerthaus Schüür
The Education Commission of the Lucerne City Council is applying for two special credits for the renovation and extension of the Schüür concert hall, one for the renovation and extension and the other for a new subsidy agreement.
According to the city's press release, it was noted in the consultation that the Schüür is a "formative cultural venue that radiates far beyond the city limits and has lost none of its relevance and attractiveness even after almost 30 years".
The renovation measures were undisputed, while the plans for the extension appeared plausible and appropriate without being oversized. The commission praised the handling of the current building and its position in the surroundings as exemplary.
The Schüür is a concert and party venue, centrally located behind Lucerne railroad station and just a few minutes' walk from the city center. It focuses primarily on contemporary, mainly electronically amplified music in the form of concerts and parties.
