Federal Councillor Berset meets the cultural sector
Federal Councillor Alain Berset met with a delegation from the cultural sector for a virtual exchange. The talks focused on the prospects for the coming months and the federal government's support measures for this sector.
Despite the reopening measures, the situation for the cultural sector remains precarious, according to the official press release from the Federal Department of Home Affairs. Planning events remains very difficult, which is why federal support for the cultural sector is still necessary.
The Federal Council will shortly be discussing the criteria according to which major events can be planned, as well as the modalities of compensation if an approved event has to be canceled due to the epidemiological situation.
With the amendment to the Covid-19 Cultural Ordinance on March 31, 2021, the Federal Council once again simplified the procedures for submitting and processing applications from cultural professionals for loss compensation and emergency aid and relaxed the eligibility requirements. Additional simplifications are currently being developed with the cantons. These will further speed up the decision-making process.
