BSO elects new concertmaster

The Bern Symphony Orchestra appoints David Guerchovitch as its new 1st concertmaster from its own ranks. He has been a member and second concertmaster of the Bern Symphony Orchestra since 2018.

Guerchovitch received his first violin lessons from his parents at the age of three. He went on to study with Pavel Vernikov in Italy, Ana Chumachenco in Germany and Maxim Vengerov in Switzerland. He has won various prizes in both solo competitions and chamber music (1st prize in the Gianni Bergagmo Classic Music Award, 3rd prize in the International Mozart Competition, special prize in the Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition).

From 2015 to 2018, he was principal 2nd violin with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the resident orchestra of the KKL. Together with his brother Slava Guerchovitch and Jonas Vischi, he founded the Trio Pilatus, which performs regularly in Switzerland and abroad.
