Further doctorates at the Graduate School of the Arts
The doctoral program "Graduate School of the Arts GSA", the cooperation project founded in 2011 by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Bern and the Bern University of the Arts HKB, is celebrating five more doctorates and the second volume of its publication series on 27 November.
The first and so far only Swiss doctoral program for artists has established itself, according to a press release from Bern University of the Arts: On the one hand, the GSA is celebrating its five new graduates and is showcasing the results of this artistic-scientific Bernese model at this event - from piano playing "in the spirit of Liszt" to intersections of graphic design, composition and restoration to culturally sensitive design.
On the other hand, the second volume in the Graduate School of the Arts' Contributions series is being published with five essays resulting from the GSA Research Days. The spectrum ranges from the strategy of the Swiss Design Award to interpretation research and reenactment as a method of analysis.
Almost 40 international doctoral students from the fields of design, dance, photography, theater, spoken words, conservation and music are currently enrolled at the GSA, combining artistic practice and academic research. The Bernese model is now recognized both nationally and internationally. The doctoral students particularly appreciate the dual supervision by the professors of both cooperation partners as well as the transdisciplinary work.
