The finalists of the Swiss Jazz Award 2014

The field of candidates for the Swiss Jazz Award, which is being presented for the eighth time by Radio Swiss Jazz and the JazzAscona Festival, has been narrowed down to three groups. The winner will be decided after live performances at the final evening of the JazzAscona Festival (June 21) in front of the audience and a jury of experts.

Blue Bolero, Nicole Herzog-Stewy von Wattenwyl and the western Swiss band Y-Jazz have qualified for the final. Blue Bolero is a young Zurich trio that has made a name for itself with its debut album Introducing ... Blue Bolero has drawn attention to itself.

The singer Nicole Herzog and the band of Bernese pianist Stewy von Wattenwyl have released the album Intimacy and Y-Jazz from Yverdon-les-Bains is back with the current CD happ'y-jazz event on the market.

Six bands were nominated for this year's award. The Daniel Blanc Quartet, the Ralf Ruh Trio and Belleville were eliminated in the first public vote. Around 2000 votes were cast in the first phase of the public voting, which restarted on March 5 and will run until 12 noon on June 21.

Votes can be cast online at www.swissjazzaward.ch or via SMS to the number 919 (CHF 0.40/SMS) with the codes SJA BLU for Blue Bolero, SJA NIC for Nicole Herzog-Stewy von Wattenwyl and SJA YJA for Y-Jazz.
